In its external, worldly form, the Promised Land was the land of Canaan which became Israel and was to be the kingdom of God. This was the conceptual shadow given to aid man in his attempts to understand his relationship with God and the true nature of his (man's) being. Christ brought fulfillment and completion to this shadow as he became Israel in his fulfillment of the conditional covenantal promise of Exodus 19.5-6. So then, the Promised Land, Israel (the kingdom of God), was offered to man via the covenantal union with Christ...a union deemed valid and in effect with the Last Supper.
Today, we have the eternal, spiritual reality of the Promised Land, the kingdom of God, within us as we enter union with Christ and allow him, the True Self, to resurrect within (all done by the power of the Spirit). When we hear and follow the "heart of flesh" that is in accord with the will and reason of God, we live in the Kingdom...we have entered and now possess the Promised Land.
